FAQ - Commonly Asked Questions

If our company does not know what needs to be done on-site?

A: BridgeCable.com provides a Site Survey at the location requesting work to be done. We take details on your location and then can provide you with a detail work order. Digital pictures can also be requested to show before and after pictures.

What if we have multiple cables going to the same location, is this considered one price for each cable?

A: Most cable installations have multiple cables, either voice or data, going to same the jack or location. We do not count such cable runs as single installs, therefore pricing is drastically reduced.

What is the time frame of the cable installation?

A: Depending on the scope of required work that needs to be done has to be considered? Generally our time frame is 1-2 weeks upon our clients contacting us. Emergency service is obviously faster and smaller projects can be done in a shorter time period. Contact us today for an immediate Site Survey.

What is the warranty period of the cables and work?

A: BridgeCable.com warrants equipment and services to be free from detects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of installation or service. At it's option, BridgeCable.com will repair or replace defects at no charge. Warranty excludes defects resulting from misuse, unauthorized repair or acts of God. Please contact us for more details.

Our main office or remote office is not in your service coverage area, do you provide support there?

A: Many cable installations have required BridgeCable.com staff to travel to various states. Bridge Group Services Network Security & Performance services, as provided by www.bridgeideas.com, does offer extended service coverage. Please consult one of our staff members at 1-877-832-1206 for more information.

Does the prices include everything?

A: Yes, unless your specialized quote or work order lists otherwise. Our prices include new cabling installed, network jack at the users workstation and directly feeding into our patch panel or network device. Our cables are certified for compliance and with each install we email or fax the cable results for each test we do. Each cable run is probably labeled and documented from starting point to end. Our technicians will also provide a Site Map of the on-site work completed. Cable diagrams can also be presented in a Visio format for an additional charge.

What's the difference between CAT 5 cable and CAT 5e cable?

A: CAT 5 cable and CAT 5e cable have several differences, the most important are as follows:

  • Network support - CAT 5 cable will support 10/100 Ethernet. That is, Ethernet and Fast Ethernet. CAT 5e cable will support Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet. CAT 5e Cable is completely backwards compatible, and can be used in any application in which you would normally use CAT 5 cable.
  • Less crosstalk - Crosstalk is the electrical interference that results when one wire's signal effects another wire's signal. CAT 5e cable has been improved over CAT 5 cable in this respect, and crosstalk has been greatly reduced.
  • Bandwidth - This is directly related to network support, in the sense that the bandwidth is the information-carrying capacity of a system. The greater the bandwidth, the greater the information-carrying capacity in a given period of time. CAT 5e cable is rated at 350 megahertz, and it is this increased bandwidth (compared to CAT 5 cable) that allows it to support Gigabit Ethernet.

After viewing BridgeCable.com's quote it mentions Cabling Certification. What is this?

A: After our professional install teams have placed your new cabling in place we ensure the cable life. Many local and national companies just install data and voice cabling without testing it. During an installation, cables might be strained or pull to tightly and therefore render the cable useless. After we adjust the cables to their proper end points we thoroughly inspect and test our cable runs. PDF or printed out copies of our tests can be supplied to you and your company after we complete our installation.

Do you have hints for installing cabling ourselves?

A: Obvious answer would be to have Bridge Cable install the network or voice cabling. However, below is a pdf file to download and learn some of the "tricks of the trade".
